From the time of YAGForLife's inception, we have been focused on ensuring that we help fund efforts that make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need it most. What exactly does this mean in terms of the kinds of projects we seek to fund? The short version of this answer is that they MUST meet the following critieria:
- Focused - around particular communites
- Affordable - so we can equitably distribute our limited funds
- High impact - produce visible and immediate benefits using limited resources
- Strictly need based - no other criteria is acceptable!
- Sustainable - by the benificiaries themselves so they can last for generations to come

The $25,087 we raised from last year's fundraising was matched by a contribution of $35,500 from Glimmer and an additional ETB 80,000 worth of labor and material from the beneficiary communities themselves. These funds are currently in use constructing 22 water projects that will impact close to 10,000 beneficiaries for years to come. Completion reports and pictures from these projects will be posted to our website as soon as they become available. 2006 Goals
For 2006 (projects implementation in 2007), we are currently awaiting Glimmer's updated country strategy for Ethiopia before disclosing how the proceeds from this year's fundraising will be used. As always however, we remain committed to the foundational pillars of YAGForLife as represented above and will ensure that the allocation of funds remains true to those ideals within Glimmer's programs. Last year’s matching funds from Glimmer helped to fund many more projects than we ordinarily could. Even though we will not have a match this year, we want to go all out and fund projects in 3 regions - $10,000 per region for a total fundraising goal of $30,000. Help us make the kind of difference shown in the picture above – tell your friends and family to come out for the event, sponsor your own fundraising for it or donate online through our website now.
